Four slabs of marble standing off a twenty-four centimetre base, closed by a cap with the burner well sunk into it. Open between the uprights, so it reads as light rather than as a column — you can see through it. It stands alone in a corner or by a door, and holds a room even empty. The size is fixed: the piece is set to its proportion, and the only choice is the stone.
